How to Stake

Staking is the act of placing a bet on a market outcome. You choose YES or NO, enter an amount of USDC or EURC, approve the transfer, and confirm the stake. Your position is recorded on-chain immediately.

ℹ️
You need USDC or EURC on Arc Testnet and your wallet connected to chainId 5042002 before staking.

Step-by-Step

  1. Open a market. Go to /predict and click any market card, or click the YES / NO buttons directly on the card.
  2. Choose your side. Click Stake YES or Stake NO. The current implied probability is shown next to each button (e.g. "Stake YES · 58%").
  3. Enter an amount. Type the amount of USDC or EURC you want to stake. The drawer shows your wallet balance, the estimated shares you will receive, and the updated odds after your stake.
  4. Approve. If this is your first stake with this currency, you will be asked to approve the market contract to spend your tokens. This is a standard ERC-20 approval — it only needs to happen once per currency per market.
  5. Confirm the stake. A second transaction calls stakeYes() or stakeNo() on the market contract. Once confirmed, your position appears in the Your Position panel on the market page and in My Bets.

Understanding Odds and Shares

Odds are set by an AMM, not a central authority. The implied probability of YES is:

P(YES) = noPool / (yesPool + noPool)

When you stake YES, your money is added to yesPool, which lowers the YES odds and raises the NO odds. You receive shares proportional to the opposite pool:

shares = netAmount × noPool / yesPool

Staking into the smaller pool gives you more shares per USDC — this is how the AMM incentivises liquidity on both sides.

Fees

Limits

  • Minimum: 1 USDC/EURC per stake
  • Maximum per transaction: 10% of the total pool size, hard-capped at 100,000 USDC/EURC. This prevents single-transaction price manipulation.
  • Staking closes at the market's resolution date. The contract rejects any stake after that timestamp.

What Happens to Your Stake

  • Your USDC/EURC is held in the market contract until the market resolves.
  • If you win, you claim your proportional share of the entire pool minus the 0.5% fee.
  • If you lose, your stake remains in the pool and is distributed to winners.
  • You can stake multiple times on the same market — positions accumulate.
  • You cannot withdraw a stake before resolution (positions are not transferable).
⚠️
Staking is irreversible once confirmed. Double-check the market question, your chosen side, and the amount before approving.
